Irish Army Bomb Disposal Unit - the brief:


Paragon Design was commissioned by the Irish Army Bomb Disposal Unit to design an insignia to be used as a formal badge for this division. The badge had to adhere to specific Army guidelines that incorporated traditional imagery while remaining distinctly Irish. It is used in two roles, the first as a formal dress badge and the other on combat fatigues for day to day use. The formal badge is a cast bronze pin and for every day fatigue application an embroidered version is used. The crossed swords are based on an ancient Irish design as is the Celtic tricircle.
